If you enjoy bird watching, looking at insects and animals up close, or taking hikes in the forest, then CRRL’s Adventure Packs are for you!
Ready to start your summer with a smash? With everything from pizza and a movie to games and friends, the CRRL invites all teens to relax and have fun at our annual Super Summer Smash events.
The fun starts at the Porter Branch on Friday, June 16, and at the Headquarters Library on Saturday, June 17. Both events are from 6:00-8:00 for teens in grades 6-12. The library will be closed to everyone but you at these special after-hours events.
Not every child today learns in a big building with lots of other students all studying the same things at the same time. In the past twenty years, the homeschool phenomenon has caught fire across America.
These pages are designed to make it easy to browse and download amazing books and audiobooks. We update our lists with fresh titles each month. Feel like exploring on your own? You can browse by topic by clicking on Subjects.

Your heart will soar and fall with the story of two teens overcoming tremendous odds to show the world who they truly are. Lily Jo McGrother was born Timothy McGrother, but now, as she enters eighth grade, she wonders if it’s time—if she’s strong enough—to be the girl she is inside. Norbert Dorfman, brand new to town, has a hard enough time dealing with his bipolar disorder and a secret from his past. Both Lily Jo and Norbert (who chooses the nickname "Dunkin" after his coffee habit) are hoping eighth grade will mean a fresh start.
Teens, now you can find your own space at Headquarters Library in Fredericksburg. Come to the second floor, and see what’s in store.
The official Opening Night Pizza Party is set for Tuesday, March 28, from 7:30 to 8:30. The library’s Teen Council and HQ Youth Services staff will be there to welcome you. Besides delicious pizza, there will be:
15 brand spanking new Chromebooks available for checkout. During the party or at any other time the library is open, they can be used anywhere on the second floor and can be used with earphones for a bit of privacy.
We'll also have XBox One with the following games:
- Halo 5: Guardians
- LEGO Jurassic World
- UFC 2 Deluxe Edition
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse
- NBA 2K16
- Need for Speed: Rivals
- Rocket League Arena

"Oh, by the way... "
Those were always the words my parents dreaded hearing when my brother and I were growing up. Usually, because it meant that one, or both of us, forgot about an upcoming project. Luckily, for us and my parents, we usually remembered sooner rather than later—but sometimes we did push it kind of close.
It’s not uncommon for parents and kids to come rushing into the library the night before a project is due looking for information and inspiration—but have no fear! We have some amazing project books here at the library that can help out students in just this situation. My booklist by no means has every book that would help, but it features some of the lesser known ones. Now, without any further procrastination, check out my "So, I have this project..." booklist.
How will you change the world? Join the library from March 5-11 for Teen Tech Week 2017, and show how you see 2017's theme: "Be the Source of Change." This year, we're changing things up, too, and giving teens two ways to get involved.
First, come by the teen sections in our branches throughout the week to get creative and try out some tech.
